Reverend Dr. Byron J.
Grayson was born in York, PA. He graduated in 1971 with the Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Finance and in 1978 he earned the MBA Degree both from the
Howard University School of Business. In 1995, he earned the Master of
Divinity Degree from the Howard University School of Divinity. Reverend
Grayson earned the Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2005 from the United
Theological Seminar in Dayton, Ohio. His research was titled “A Model to
Identify Societal Issues which Could Become Catalysts for Unity or Division
in a New Church”.
In 1991, Reverend
Grayson was licensed to preach. He was ordained an Itinerant Elder in 1997.
In 1998, he became the Founding Pastor of St. Jude A.M.E. Church in
Germantown, Maryland, where he is the current pastor.
Reverend Grayson served in the Pennsylvania
National Guard and in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Union
County, NJ, Democratic Central Committee and the Washington, DC Ward Three
Democratic Committee. He was elected twice as an Advisory Neighborhood
Commissioner in Washington, DC. He currently serves as a Chaplain and as an
Auxiliary Police Officer with the Frederick City Police Department. He is
an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the International
Association of Police Chaplains and the Kent Group. In 2008, Dr. Grayson
was appointed by Martin O’Malley, Governor of the State of Maryland, to the
Board of Trustees of the Frederick Community College.
Reverend Grayson
is married to Jennifer A. Grayson and they are the proud parents of four
adult children: Cortella Jones; Paul Jones; Byron Grayson, Jr.; and Nicolle
Grayson. They have one grandson, Jalen Jones.
Reverend
Grayson's greatest accomplishment is that one-day when he was lost, he
listened to the Word of God, believed in his heart and confessed with his
mouth that Jesus is Lord. |
